The Denver Broncos just signed 9x Pro Bowl QB Russell Wilson to a 5y/$245M extension with $165M GTD before he took his first snap with Denver, making him the second highest-paid QB in the NFL ($49M AAV) behind only Aaron Rodgers. There is no better time to look back at all of the historic accomplishments and greatest records he already owns from his time with the Seattle Seahawks.

Russell Wilson was drafted in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks out of the University of Wisconsin. The two-sport athlete played three seasons of baseball and football at North Carolina State. Interestingly, the nine-time Pro Bowler played professional baseball before embarking on his journey in the NFL, after being drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the fourth round of the 2010 MLB Draft. He played two seasons of Minor League Baseball before leaving in the fall of 2011 to return to football as a graduate student QB for UW.

The Ohio native shined in his one year with the Badgers, passing for 33 TDs and just four interceptions, elevating his NFL draft aspirations. The 5’11”, 215lb Quarterback was undersized for his position, but Seattle took a chance on Wilson coming off one of the most efficient passing seasons by a college QB in FBS history. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll made Russ the day one starter for a Seattle team that had built a dominant defense and was poised to take the league by storm.

“Danger Russ” threw an efficient 26 TDs with only 10 INTs in his rookie campaign, utilizing his high football IQ and pinpoint accuracy to solidify himself as a top-tier QB early in his career. During his Sophomore season, the Seahawks’ expectations were the highest they may have ever been, as the “Legion of Boom” was in full form. Wilson and company barreled through the NFC en route to one of the most lopsided and surprising Super Bowl victories in NFL history, stifling Peyton Manning‘s historic year with a 43-8 win in the 2013 Super Bowl.

From there, Wilson cemented himself as the Seattle Seahawks GOAT with the records, film, and impact on winning to prove it. The franchise signal-caller was traded to the Denver Broncos in 2022 after his first losing season, which officially symbolized the end of an era in the Pacific Northwest and the beginning of a new one in the Mile High City. The man who is also known as the husband to Ciara signed a massive 5y/$245M extension before taking his first snap for Broncos country where he took on the challenge of unprecedented division competition.
