The stakes couldn’t have been higher for a discounted Miami Heat team who, without their leading scorer Goran Dragic, went toe-to-toe with the LA Lakers in a championship-clinching Game 5. As per usual, LeBron James devastated the stat sheet and AD assaulted the rim, but the duo’s dominance wasn’t enough to out-do Jimmy Butler’s momentous triple-double and Duncan Robinson’s excellence from deep, which earned Miami the W in a back-and-forth contest down the stretch.

The final two minutes of Friday’s festivities had virtual fans on the edge of their seats with Jimmy Butler and LeBron James exchanging buckets at a high rate. Their teammates, also, sprinkled in a couple of points each, and Miami’s last-ditch efforts were successful which saves them from leaving Orlando without a championship, for the time being.

The steady-handed Jimmy Butler went absolutely ballistic on the edge of elimination in Game 5. Recording his second 35+ point triple-double of the series and converting the game into a free throw fest, the exhausted Butler cataloged a gritty win for the Heat to fend off imminent elimination.

Regardless of the disappointing loss, LeBron James didn’t buckle under the pressure of the enormous stage that had been set for him to complete a nearly perfect performance. There were minimal hitches in his game as he dropped 40 points, 7 assists, and 13 boards, shattering his Finals record of triples in a single game with six.

Quickly gaining notoriety as a three-point specialist, Duncan Robinson was locked in from the jump with a fully-loaded sniper that ripped through the net a whopping seven times on 13 attempts to register 26 much-needed points for Miami, with minimum dribbling required.

The modern-day Showtime Lakers were show-stoppers in Game 5 on their many fastbreak sequences, but this play was the cream of the crop as AD rose up and guided in the top-shelf tomahawk alley-oop from his partner King James.

The heavyweight bout between Butler and James saw both men laying it all on the line with LBJ unable to deliver the knockout blow as Jimmy lived to fight another day, credit to his gutsy triple-double. The Heat simply refused to surrender to the Lakers’ barrage of haymakers in Game 5’s fourth quarter which will gift NBA fans an enticing Game 6 on Sunday.
